Sariska Tiger Reserve

Sariska Tiger Reserve, located in the Alwar district of Rajasthan, is one of India’s most captivating wildlife sanctuaries. Spread across an area of over 880 square kilometers, this reserve is nestled amidst the rugged Aravalli hills and is known for its dry deciduous forests, grasslands, rocky plateaus, and rich biodiversity. Originally declared a wildlife sanctuary in 1955, Sariska was later designated a tiger reserve in 1978 under India’s prestigious Project Tiger.

The reserve is home to the Royal Bengal Tiger, which was reintroduced here after facing local extinction in the early 2000s. Today, Sariska stands as a symbol of successful wildlife conservation, offering visitors a rare opportunity to witness tigers in their natural habitat. In addition to tigers, the reserve shelters an array of wildlife including leopards, hyenas, jackals, sambar deer, chital, nilgai, wild boars, and numerous bird species that attract birdwatchers from all over the country.
